Vice Commodores Report- Spring Meeting June 29, 2008 We have a full social season on tap with the traditional 4th of July family BBQ coming up this Friday the 4th! We will have BBQ's set up for your use, the bar will be open so come on out and have some fun at the club before you go see the fireworks! The Crab feast has been moved back to its original date of August 16th because of a conflict with the Annual Cottagers Party. There will be a schedule of the six events that require reservations mailed to all members this week and posted on the website and at various places around the club for your information. Starting in July, this week, the club goes to a 5 day operation with dinner being served every day except Monday and Tuesday. Will we be having a Family Friendly Dinner every Wednesday night with an expanded children's menu and at least one child friendly special being offered. We will also be showing a family movie such as Finding Nemo, Cars, or Toy Story during these dinners so bring the kids out to the club and enjoy a meal with the family. Over the winter we began a number of projects to repair, replace and hopefully upgrade our facilities. The bar had a new bar top crafted and installed by our very own Past Commodores Jay Kopp and Bob Herzog; many thanks to them. We also installed a brass foot rail, a new bay window to replace the fogged one, resurfaced the floor area behind the bar in tile, purchased new glassware and china, menu covers and bar stools. The walk in refrigerator freezer has been installed and is operational. The container will be removed and the area will be returned to a more appealing state soon. While this project has been running a little behind schedule it is coming to a successful conclusion. The point of sale system is up and running and after a few glitches seems to be working well. All of this reinvestment in your club is financed by the rental activity. The rentals have exceeded all of our expectations and we have almost rented every available Saturday for a Wedding! Keep in mind that the normal activities of the club will always be offered in season and the club will never be completely rented during July and August. There are a few out of high season full club rentals that occur on Saturdays in September and October so please consult your calendars and the website for additional information. I would like to end by thanking some people who have made some significant contributions to the club. First, our Chef, Harry Gleason for the outstanding job he has done so far this year. We have a full rental calendar thanks to his efforts and he has already done a great job updating and revising our menus and food offerings. I would also like to thank Kevin and Debbie for adapting to the new systems without a glitch and continuing to provide excellent service in the bar. Finally, the clubhouse has never looked better or been in a higher state of cleanliness and that is thanks to our new maintenance person John Moore.
