September and October weekends are perfect times to enjoy the sunset on the Harbor and to get cozy in the Bar as the evenings grow cooler and nights grow longer. The Corinthian Grill is open on almost all Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights through September and October, and on Fridays and Sundays in November - check the website calendar for complete listings. Please note: on Saturday September 27, Sunday October 5, and Saturday November 1 the Corinthian Grill will be on the second floor due to rentals on the first floor; there will be no Corinthian Grill on Friday October 3, Saturday October 11, or Saturday October 18 due to full-club rentals.

Upcoming events:

October 4 - Corinthian Grill and "Last Squall Dinner"
This is also the weekend of Dock Day, when the Last Squall Regatta and Dinner used to be held. Vera Hansen and her crew would spend the day ricing potatoes for mashed potatoes to go along with roast pork, knockwurst, sauerkraut and other seasonal foods. Chef Harry Gleason will be recreating this hearty Autumn meal as a Corinthian Grill special. Don't miss out - it will
be the CYCCM equivalent of Proust's madeleine.

October 25 - Halloween Party
Plans are in the works for a spooky-fun family night, hosted by Hope Perry and Brandy White. Festivities will begin at 1800 Hours - more information soon!

November 15 - Oyster Roast -hosted by Jay and Jennifer Kopp and Laurie Rapp

November 29 - Covered Dish Dinner
Joan Green will again host this popular event. More information to come, but think about this now - NO TURKEY! Anything else
will do!

Vice Commodores Report- Spring Meeting
June 29, 2008
We have a full social season on tap with the traditional 4th of July family BBQ coming up this Friday the 4th! We will have BBQ's set up for your use, the bar will be open so come on out and have some fun at the club before you go see the fireworks! The Crab feast has been moved back to its original date of August 16th because of a conflict with the Annual Cottagers Party. There will be a schedule of the six events that require reservations mailed to all members this week and posted on the website and at various places around the club for your information. Starting in July, this week, the club goes to a 5 day operation with dinner being served every day except Monday and Tuesday. Will we be having a Family Friendly Dinner every Wednesday night with an expanded children's menu and at least one child friendly special being offered. We will also be showing a family movie such as Finding Nemo, Cars, or Toy Story during these dinners so bring the kids out to the club and enjoy a meal with the family.
Over the winter we began a number of projects to repair, replace and hopefully upgrade our facilities. The bar had a new bar top crafted and installed by our very own Past Commodores Jay Kopp and Bob Herzog; many thanks to them. We also installed a brass foot rail, a new bay window to replace the fogged one, resurfaced the floor area behind the bar in tile, purchased new glassware and china, menu covers and bar stools. The walk in refrigerator freezer has been installed and is operational. The container will be removed and the area will be returned to a more appealing state soon. While this project has been running a little behind schedule it is coming to a successful conclusion. The point of sale system is up and running and after a few glitches seems to be working well. All of this reinvestment in your club is financed by the rental activity. The rentals have exceeded all of our expectations and we have almost rented every available Saturday for a Wedding! Keep in mind that the normal activities of the club will always be offered in season and the club will never be completely rented during July and August. There are a few out of high season full club rentals that occur on Saturdays in September and October so please consult your calendars and the website for additional information.
I would like to end by thanking some people who have made some significant contributions to the club. First, our Chef, Harry Gleason for the outstanding job he has done so far this year. We have a full rental calendar thanks to his efforts and he has already done a great job updating and revising our menus and food offerings. I would also like to thank Kevin and Debbie for adapting to the new systems without a glitch and continuing to provide excellent service in the bar. Finally, the clubhouse has never looked better or been in a higher state of cleanliness and that is thanks to our new maintenance person John Moore.
