Rules: The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS); the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association; the rules of the J-24 class, except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions., and by the sailing instructions. Radios: All yachts must have a VHF radio. Eligibility & Entry: Competitors must have a valid weight certificate and a current class membership card. An extra fee of $10. will be charged for those Skippers not a member of USSA Registration Saturday, August 21 0800 0930 Skippers Meeting: Saturday, August 21 0930 Races Saturday, August 21. First warning signal 11:00 AM. Up to three races may follow. Sunday, August 22.. First warning signal 11:00 AM. Up to two races may follow. Launching/High Tide Launching is available at CYCCM. However, because of the depth restriction, launching is possible only within 1∏ hours of high tide: Fri. Aug. 20 6:07 PM Sat. Aug 21. 6:53 AM Sun. Aug 22 7:34 PM Once launched, yachts must remain in the water until the conclusion of the regatta except with the permission of the Race Committee which will be granted only in emergencies. Dock space with rafting will be available, some moorings are available. Regatta Site & Course(s): The regatta site and racing area will be the ocean waters off of Cape May Inlet or lower Delaware Bay. The course(s) will be windward-leeward. Scoring & Alternative Penalties: The Low-Point Scoring System; Appendix A2 of the racing rules will apply. There will be no throw-out race. The Scoring Penalty, RRS 44.3; will apply. Social: There will be complimentary beer Saturday evening on the dock. There will be dinner served at the yacht club both Friday and Saturday evenings for those interested in eating there. Places to Stay: Cape May has a lot of bed and breakfasts, inns and motels. CYCCM Represented at British Nationals

Congratulations to Charlotte List for representing CYCCM and Team USA at the 2010 British Nationals Optimist Regatta in Portland, England!  Charlotte finished 64th in the GOLD Fleet of 82 boats.

 

Watch this wonderful launching video, it gives you a great sense of the venue and managing an event for 493 sailboats.

MEMORIAL DAY REGATTA

MEMORIAL DAY "TUNE UP" REGATTA....

The Spring has been beautiful and we kicked off the sailing season with the Memorial Day "Tune Up" Regatta.  We had sailors in four fleets:  Laser, Sunfish, Optimist and Phantom!  It was a beautiful day to get out on the water and the Race Committee of Dave Crines, Wally Stuard, Leslie Fog and Carol List ran three races.  1st Place Laser Dick O'Keefe; 2nd Place Laser Kathy MacCausland; 3rd Place Laser Bill Moore.  1st Place Sunfish Carol Flynn; 2nd Place Sunfish Cookie Wilsey; 3rd Place Sunfish Nancy Sayre; 1st Place Optimist Trevor Long and 2nd Place Optimist Tyler Flynn and our 1st Place Phantom to first-time racer Mike Huggins.  Thank you to our Harbor Patrol Jack Lord!  It was a fun day for all!

Please check the website calendar to view what is currently planned.  Here are some of the highlights:

·      Sunfish Regional Regatta A World Qualifier - This Event Hosted by CYCCM is being held June 19 & 20.   NOR available on website. Races to start at 12 noon each day.

·      MAYRA - Invitational Regatta - June 27 - Fleets include:  Laser, Laser Radial, Sunfish, 420, Optimist and GP-14.  NOR is available on website.

.......Independence Day Regatta - July 4th - Harbor Regatta including Laser, Sunfish, 420 and Opti's.  Wear your RED/WHITE/BLUE and sail with your fellow members in celebration of Independence Day!  10:00 a.m. Harbor Start.

......Area C Bemis-Smythe - July 16 - Laser & 420 Only

·      C. Wallace Stuard Foundation Regatta: July 18th  -  This is the main event of the summer  with a weekend full of activities and racing to raise funds for the Sailing Foundation.  Be sure to save the date for the Casino Night Fundraiser on Saturday, July 17th kicking off this great weekend!

·      Cape to Cape - Race to Cape May - August 6-8 - Offshore race from Lewes, DE to Cape May.

·      Dead Crab Regatta - August 21-22

.......Laser District Regatta - September 25 - 26

In addition to our traditional sailing schedule, we will continue with the successful new events introduced last year including the Spring Laser Series and popular Lady Corinthian Sunfish Series.

Junior Sailing Program update:

The Junior Sailing Program will start with Session I on June 28th.  The Beginner Class meets on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 12noon and the Advanced Class meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 1pm to 4pm and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm.  Returning is our Program Director Brad Lord and returning instructors Mike Russom, Lindsay Press and Eliza Crawford; rejoining the staff is Rachel Bennung and our newest instructor is Morgan Russom.  We are excited to have a such a great group of instructors for our kids this season!  There is an Open On-Site Registration on Monday, June 21st for Session I.  Registration is also available on-line.

If anyone is interested in leasing a 420 or Laser Radial for a sailing session, please contact me to reserve a boat and obtain a lease agreement. The boat rentals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.  The rental fees are available on the Boat Lease Agreement found on the website (maximum of 3 sessions).  To encourage participation in the Corinthian Series and CYCCM regattas, boats may also be leased for these events for a fee.

Boat Storage:  Boat Storage Forms must be submitted online before you bring your boat to the club.  2010 Decals will be issued to all registered boats.  A boat that is on club property and is not registered or properly decaled may be removed at the owner's expense.
